Blocking out this character: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/563018697744938/
I don't think I'm going to add any more objects, but I need one last pass to verify that.
The hands and feet are still very rough.
What I really need to do at this stage is verify proportions, and the major shapes. The abs, for instance, need a bit of definition.
Before I see the artwork on the link, I thought it was a Gears of War character. Looks like it's going to turn our awesome Wardred.
Can't wait to see how this turns out! I've always had a strong affinity with stylized content.
I followed the link to the artist's art station profile; that dude is a fantastic artist! It's too bad he doesn't have official turnarounds, because anatomy appears to be one of his strengths.
For more anatomical stuff there's: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/L44N8w
I think it's the shape of this guy's head, but he kinda reminds me of the sergeant from small soldiers, haha.
edit:
I just followed that link; yeah, that's great work in 3D. Is this guy where you drew inspiration from? I can see your style leaning in this direction, what with all the color-blocking.
The goal is to get to the original image with the guy and the mustachios. I'm really not an anatomy expert, and that guys right arm - left side of the image - is really kind of messed up. Not just the lighting, but the whole area around the forearm bulge.
I used the other to get a closer view of what the anatomy would look like.
For my purposes something between the two is probably better. Somebody who did shoulders, biceps, and forearms, but not all the other muscles.
Edit: LOL about the small soldiers. Yeah, the guy's head in the original image is *very* flat. Overall he's way more square than realistic. I'll probably redo things with simpler topology and more realistic softer curves, getting the overall proportions right, and wait to square things up.
Right now my guy is just a bit too busy / large.
