No, it's not Christmas, but I was excited that I figured out how to do this! I can't help but feel that there's an easier way than keeping the texture swirling up with a Lattice modifier... But wow...I felt so good finishing this and making it work! ;_;
you said you are learning???? doesn't look like!
Awesome, thank you, Forrest!
nice! very simple and to the point!!
Thanks!! :D
I tried using the Screw modifier, even Array and Curve modifiers, but every time I did, I got a strange version of the pattern that "mirrored" itself. For now, the lattice oddly worked, but that means I have to duplicate both lattice and main mesh to get more than one. I even tried baking the pattern in. I think I need to practice more to see what way(s) might also work. I'll update my progress whenever I can on it!
(Oh, had forgotten to credit: I got the pattern from here: http://www.creattor.com/textures-patterns/candy-cane-pattern-set-2453, but Google Images. It's seamless.)
Ah, true love.
Could twist the object and color individual faces. Not sure it would be any easier. Screw modifier probably the easiest.
