A quick comparison of glass in a nearly identical scene rendered in both the Blender Internal Render Engine and Cycles. I hope this gives people some perspective on just how great of an improvement cycles is from what we have currently. I didn't think it would be this dramatic.
This was a very quick test, and both renders could be improved, but I believe my point still stands.
I don't know what you guys are looking at. The light points in cycles are slightly brighter, yes... but there's also grains all over the place. I assume the light reflections are supposed to be square?
Glass is one of Cycles strengths. Still a bit of noise in the Cycles render. Which one took longer to render. Don't get me wrong Cycles is the future and my choice but I have also seen many wonderful things done in BI. Thank you for posting a head to head comparison. I remember someone modeling a pin hole camera and taking a picture with it in Cycles. Pretty amazing.
And I thought Blender Render was realistic...
cycles looks better...
