Give it a try @oywin . The fundamentals are transferable to any software package, you just have to learn that tool's quirks. If you don't like it, then don't use it. You never know until you try.
@oywin, just try it for fun. You don't need a project to get into it. It will also help you to get comfortable with 2.8.

I still haven't gotten around to trying EEVEE, or even 2.8 at all, because I feel like I have to get done watching learning flows that uses earlier versions and I guess I'm kinda anxious to getting used to all the new stuff. Also... I feel like I don't have any projects yet that is.. worthy of EEVEE, in like, complexity with lighting, textures etc.
But watching all the cool stuff it can do really makes me itch to try it.
