• Omar Domenech(dostovel)

I feel I'm better at trying to imitate reality instead of doing too outlandish creative things

  • Reltz (reltz)

Cheat sheet is a good idea, we've been spoiled with new games including maps, need to get back to our roots with dungeon mapping =)

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel)

    Patience is your ally

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective)

reltz Trust me we all get the level of ambition and the frustration of not being able to meet it, just keep on truckin' and I promise if you stick with it and strive to improve you'll do great things.

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

A simple sword is a good choice. Though for a beginner 'simple' is likely going to feel overly difficult. Patience is key

  • Reltz (reltz)

I was working on a simple sword, which I figured would be easy enough >.<

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective)

The first thing I modeled outside of a tutorial or course was a PS1 memory card lol.

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

In part I want this class to be additional camaraderie to ease frustration. Knowing we're all in this together should help stay motivated and get answers/guidance. Doing it alone can be rough

  • Matthew Ullrey(ullreym)

    mmonaloren Welcome

  • Phil Osterbauer(phoenix4690)

reltz specifically to the hotkey confusion. Find a small notpad and jot down the ones you're commonly getting messed up. It will actl like your cheat sheet until it turns to muscle memory.

This event is part of the August 2018 Class, "Getting Started with 3D Modeling & Blender"

Second week of the class: Enter the world of mesh modeling! This is the oldest form of building objects in 3D, in the computer. The discussion and demo today revolves around the technical art of “pushing and pulling verts”, as modelers affectionately called it.

We're piggy-backing off the Mesh Modeling Fundamentals course and Mesh Modeling Bootcamp here, where practice makes perfect. So we’ll be mesh-modeling an object or two to demonstrate tools and workflow available with Blender. It’s ideal if you practice along with me!
