Hot off the heals of a lit company retreat, we're sitting down for a chat with Jonathan Williamson. As a Blender-training pioneer and celebrity - which he probably hates me saying - you may have noticed that he doesn't make many tutorials anymore. So what's he been up to? Does he do much 3D work these days? What's the future of CG Cookie look like? How's the craft beer brewing?
This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions in the chat! See you there.
I love Blender but it is hard for me a to find a work where they don't say I should use 3DSMax or Maya. I wanna use Blender where I can make my best. So should I be an independent artist, or do freelancing jobs or any advice?
What about beginnings on the back-end development? Database structure, infrastructure, etc.?
How do you plan on adapting to Blender 2.8 ? I mean.... the UI will be revisited indepth and I wonder how you are going to adapt your tutorials and the already existing content of the site to that.
What about a fundamentals of programming course that could be applicable to Python and C#?
How about python scripting ? If I recall properly, at some point you wanted to do a python scripting course... When could we excpect that and in what form ? how far would you go in that ?
Oh also, any tips on how to overcome OCD on all quads topology?
+1 py scripting for artists!
"Breadth" vs. "depth": Does the Community help with this? Might there be "broad" communities and "deep" communities?
Blender courses, VFX, python, complex modeling, composting, etc
Omar, what kind of advanced courses?
