Basic 3D Navigation

In order to create anything in 3D, you’ll need to learn how to navigate in 3D space. You can do that with the gizmo in the top right of the viewport, or you can use hotkeys. The most common hotkeys are:

  • MMB: Orbit the view
  • Shift + MMB: Shift the view
  • Ctrl + MMB: Zoom the view
  • Numpad 1: Front view
  • Numpad 3: Side view
  • Numpad 7: Top view
  • Numpad 5: Toggle perspective
  • Numpad 0: Toggle camera view
  • Numpad /: Toggle local view
  • Numpad Period: Frame selected
  • Home: Frame all
  • Tilde: View pie menu

You can also use the Emulate 3 Button Mouse and Emulate Numpad options in Blender's preferences if you don't have those respective hardware configurations.
