What happens after this course?
Digital sculpting teaches you how to shape form.
Lighting is where that form actually becomes readable, believable, and finished.
The natural next step after sculpting is
Core: Fundamentals of Lighting in Blender
.
In this course, youβll learn how to:
- Reveal sculpted detail through intentional light placement
- Control mood, depth, and visual hierarchy
- Present characters and assets so they hold up in renders and portfolios
- Avoid the common trap of βgood sculpt, bad lightingβ
This course builds directly on the skills you developed here.
It assumes you already understand form and volumeβand shows you how to
communicate that work clearly.

Sculpt the form. Light the result. Keep going.
I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot, even though I haven't managed to sculpt the shark yet... Kent makes it look so easy... The most important thing I learned is that you have to look at your work from every perspective and that with practice and patience you always get better... Whether I really have the talent for sculpting is something I still have to find out. Nevertheless, it was an informative, well-structured and very, very helpful course... Thank you so much, Kent!
I really liked the personality of Kent, it really made learning the course way more fun and interesting :D
That said, I didn't like that there weren't many exercises along the way, compared with the 3D Mesh Modelling for example. There, every three-four lessons had a simple exercise practicing the tools we just learned. I think it would be better if there was an small objective set by the course after every lesson.
Also, personally, I'm not a sculpting guy xD I might have to keep practicing but I had a lot of trouble getting the shark to look as I intended.
Having said that: the course is really fun and captivating, I think it explains very well how each and every tool works and gives a very good general idea of what you can acomplish with sculpting. I'll definetly recomend it to any friend that wants to get started in this :D
This was a fantastic introduction to 3D sculpting. By the time I started the shark sculpt I had a great idea of all the tools I would need to use and how to use them. Kent's detailed overview helped make the process so intuitive that I decided to try the shark from blind first without following along, and it ended up being a great experience that turned out very well. Very much recommended for getting into sculpting.
worth the time and cost.Fantastic teachingΒ
This course was a wonderful experience. It had the perfect lecture-to-practice ratio for me. Trammell does a great job at highlighting important sections of the sculpting layout, demonstrating their usage to the student, then challenging the student to try it out themselves. I highly recommend this course.
Thank you, Kiteso! Means a lot :)
Very nice introduction to sculpting!
I was quite afraid to start sculpting, as it seemed like quite a big step up. But this course was great for breaking that ice. And I got a nice shark buddy as a reward :D
Sculpting was really fun! This course was a great intro and I'm looking forward to trying more sculpts on my own soon.
Very happy with the course! Kent is an excellent teacher. I finished this course a few months ago, but I remember it being really good. Thanks for the course!
