This course has taken a few different forms and has evolved a lot over the last 10 years and has successfully taught thousands of people how to 3D model. Like the name implies, weβre going to talk about the foundational, most important tools and concepts that youβll need throughout your modeling journey, whether youβre going into games, animation, visual effects, industrial design, architecture, or any field of computer graphics.
By the end of this course, you should be able to model basic objects with ease and have a good idea of how to approach more complex ones. If youβre an intermediate or advanced modeler already, you can expect to fill in the gaps in your education, learn good habits, and improve the overall quality of your models.Β
I started with tutorials on YouTube, but without a structured approach, studying such a challenging topic was difficult. And then came CG Cookie. Their teaching approach is fantastic. The journey has begun.
this course teaches the fundamentals in depth and helped me brush up my skills
Excellent in every regard! I already knew a good amount of it, but not all, and watching this course really helped solidify my foundations. I also learned a bunch of details that I had no idea about. Regardless of your skill level, I highly recommend this!
"I recently completed the Blender animation course on CG Cookie, and I have to say, itβs been an amazing experience! As a beginner, I used to spend a lot of time watching random YouTube tutorials, but I often felt lost without a clear direction. This course was different β it guided me step by step through the modeling process, helping me improve my skills at a pace that made sense. The structured lessons, clear explanations, and practical exercises helped me build a solid foundation in Blender. I feel much more confident in my abilities now, and Iβm excited to keep learning. Highly recommend this course to anyone looking to level up their Blender skills!"
Jonathan is very clear and straight forward with his teaching! Easy to follow. it took me few days to finish the project as a beginner, but was so much fun!Β
Awesome course, really open my mind on how to see and use the tool for specific situation
I liked the multi-step approach to the course, and really felt like I had accomplished something by the end.
the course delivers all its promises, and more.
As expected I loved the course. I found cgcookie through Jonathan Lampels Blender Basics course and really enjoyed the style, structure and personality. In my mind the payment is absolutely worth it to have a structured course instead of learning almost randomly from other tutorials without connection to each other.
In the videos Jonathan leaves the impression that he is eager to teach and enjoys that you are learning from him and he seems very kind and patient. The speed of the explanations and actions are just right. The structure is well thought out and although I did not remember everything by heart it is organized well enough that I can still find what I am looking for if I get lost while modeling. The quizzes and especially the final exercise was a good motivation to stop just watching videos and following along and instead actually model some objects in blender without a step-by-step guide. I'm wating for the grading, but regardless of how it will be judged I would have never imagined to be able to do something like that with barely more than a week of learning.
The one thing I would add is more exercises (can be completely optional) that are connected to the material but involve a bit more than just adding some details to the futuristic box that was created. Of course I could have done this myself but having the course say "Exercise: create a box in a different style utilizing the mirror modifier" would have motivated me more to actually use blender. I would not expect them to be graded. Just a friendly nudge in the course structure "hey, actually start blender and try out what you just learned without just copying the tutorial." I know that those suggestions are made in the videos and I am blaming myself for not following that advice more, but having it marked out in the course structure would have helped me to actually do it. Even if it says optional or something I would have thought "Well, it would be best to do the exercise before the next video."
Overall: I would definitely recommend this wholheartedly to any friend or colleague who wants to start learning blender. (After sending the link to the basics course)s
