Doing the Arcing Squash is proving to be a bit difficult any advice.
hi - This was a good attempt, looks like you have the right idea. I had to attempt this one many times. Here are a couple of things I notice, I am sure Wayne can give better advice.
1) it is easier to comment if you put in a frame counter
2). Since the ball has a stripe have it rotate more when it hits and leaves the ground, sometime it is rotating and sometimes it isn't. I get a better feel of a stretch if it is rotated. In the first bounce there is some rotation, but the second bound doesn't have any.
3). on the first landing have it on the ground for 3 frames, one stretch in, one compresses, one stretch out. You need to make sure it doesn't slide on the ground and it should be symmetrical between the two stretches.
4). you can turn on the motion paths and that will help you track the ball better
5). bounce 4 (i think) isn't hitting the ground
6). at the end have it roll forward a little and the backward for a couple of frames, I think Wayne refers to this as having it settle. It sort of tells the person watching it the action is over.
7). Bounce 2 should squash some since it stretches
I think you did a great job. Animation is hard, not only do you have to learn about key frames, graphs, etc., but develop an eye to see things. I hope some of the above made sense, even a simple ball bounce gets complicated when you add rotation and squash and stretch. Still it is unbelievable fun to try to make the stuff move. Good luck and have fun.
Thanks for the feedback i'll try it again and see if i get it down better
