Can i apply same technique in 2.8? what would be additional tips and/or changes to the technique used here? Thanks.
With Blender Render no longer included with 2.8x, we need to use Cycles for baking. Cycles has it's own Ambient Occlusion bake option. For cavity baking I usually opt for dirty vertex colors and baking vertex colors to a texture (via Cycles). Alternatively you could use a pointiness node in a cycles material to achieve a similar cavity effect.
