Hi, why don't use the Dyntopo option to make the base mesh???
From videos I though you would use that option.
What are the pros and cons?
Mostly I just wanted to use the remesh approach since it's new to Blender 2.8. But usually I use dyntopo for the basemesh.
There aren't too many pros and cons for remesh vs dyntopo when generating a simple, single-object basemesh. However remesh is more useful if you're blocking out a multi-object basemesh (object for torso, object for arm, object, for hand, etc). Julien Kaspar demonstrated this workflow at last years Blender conference.
I'm pretty sure this approach is very popular with Zbrush sculptors. I'm more used to dyntopo so I use that primarily.
I tried to work with dynotop several times and it never gets super smooth or it produces ereors like the one I describe here

then I tried the remesh - and it helped my model so much
Dyntopo definitely takes some practice to be comfortable with it. Personally I think it's the most robust with fewer limitations - though that opinion is debatable - but it can easily go wrong. Thankfully there's always more than one method with Blender!
Rest assured there's not a right or wrong choice. Use what works best for you 👌
