How do I enable the lines in UV editor?

on the Setup & Painting video at 16:13, you can see the lines/seems of the chest unwrapped on the image. I can not see any lines, I only see the brown color and the grey after I filled the metal brackets. Is there something I should enable? or is this a 2.83 issue

uv's show when mesh is selected?

  • moffale replied

no, it also doesnt change slight color when selected either

mmoffale When you're in texture paint mode for a selected object, make sure you're using the Image Editor in Paint mode. The setting to enable/disable the UV overlay is "Display Texture Paint UVs":

Keep in mind that this setting should be enabled by default and visible whenever using the Texture Paint UI workspace.

  • moffale replied

    doesnt seem to be working

  • Kent Trammell replied

Perhaps it's because none of your selected objects are the active object. The darker orange outline means "selected but not active". Try selecting one of those boards again to make it active (lighter orange outline).

And you're sure that the "Display Texture Paint UVs" is enabled in the View menu?

Strange...I'm at a loss then. Which version of Blender are you using?

  • moffale replied

    2.82

mmoffale The only other thing I can think to try is resetting Blender to factory settings and try again. If you want to try that, go to File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings. Then open your treasure chest file and see if you UV overlay shows up.

spikeyxxx Do you have any idea what could be happening here?

  • moffale replied

also when i try to bake after doing DVC, in the uv editior, it comes out black

  • spikeyxxx replied

mmoffale the DVC bake comes out black, probably because you didn't specify what Vertex Color to use in your Vertex Color Node:

Still can't figure out why you can't see the UV's....

    mmoffale

I do not know what I am looking at here...

But about your original question: can you see the UV's now?

If not: make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date!

(Are those two images above the same resolution? Hard to see...)

  • spikeyxxx replied

mmoffale go into Edit Mode and select everything ('A'). Then go into Texture Paint Mode. You should see the UV's now:
