When trying to do the same thing as we did for the chest, where we linked object data of the detailed plank to the rest of the planks, they all rotate to the same position as the original one, which is problematic on the lid...
how do I avoid it?
Hi, Kent
This is my blender file. I thought of making one plank on the lid and duplicate it across the cylinder, however I am not sure if this what you did... is there an easy way to do it?

Thanks for providing your .blend file. It doesn't appear that you've done anything "wrong" yet..at least not different from what I did in the course. Have you watched the next lesson to see how to employ sharing and smart repetition?
In that video you will see that I detailed 3 unique planks for the lids cylindrical form. Once I have those modeled it's simply a matter of duplicating (linked) to fill out the rest of the arc.
