Here some issue. When I assign the material to object, blender links material to the data. It's not the problem if I use default material and focusing on modelling. But if I have a lot of objects with same mesh data and try to add the new material, blender assigns this material to all same objects (if I try to select linked objects and assign the new material, all same mesh data objects get this material). In each occasion I could change the material to object, not to mesh, but in my case it's little messy. So my question is: how to link materials right to the selected objects with the same mesh data and don't assign it to all mesh linked objects?
In each occasion I could change the material to object, not to mesh, but in my case it's little messy.
That's really the only solution I can think of for that specific situation. It's strange that Copy Materials to Selected doesn't work when you assign the material to the object instead of the data, but you can still use Object -> Make Links -> Materials. That seems to work fine. Hope that helps!
First, I selected the group of same mesh data objects and tried to assign the new material (or already existed). This step changed all objects material with same mesh.
Second, I choose one object and add material to the object (in material settings of active object) and tried to make links (Ctrl+L) to the selected (same) objects. As and before.
Looks like Ctrl+L work only with mesh in materials option (maybe like default to data, not to object).
