When I use the box or lasso tool for masking I don't see the black color covering the selected part of the mesh. Although, I tried grabbing the area and it seems to react as if it's masked. By that I mean I cannot sculpt it, as if it's a masked area. Is there a setting that would affect the black color from showing on the mesh?
vvioletcrystal  You might have done the good âol show/hide mask blunder.
Ctrl + m to show/hide the mask so you can focus on your work. Problem is: what if you donât wanna focus on your work? Well just Ctrl + m again and your back to showing off that awesome mask again!
itâs also and the bottom of the viewport overlays menu on your header (its the icon with two circles overlapping) and you can adjust how much is shown from 0-1. May want to check there too.
