When I'm trying to use Alt+S to scale the latches along normals its scaling each piece individually, they're not connected and i can't figure out why. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tristan.
It sounds like you may have accidentally Extruded the faces (E key). Try removing double vertices by selecting the faces in question, press Alt-M, then select "By Distance".
If this doesn't help, please post a screenshot of the issue.
