Texture atlas in the 2.8 version of Blender.

It seems the 2.8 version of blender doesnt have the texture atlas addon. Is there another way to consolidate uv´s?

Hey, you can select multiple objects in object mode and then go to edit mode unwrap all of them at once.

Does this replace the handy features of the texture atlas?

  • Tomas Plasil(tomasplasil) replied

I never used that addon so I dont know what features you mean.

Editing multiple objects' UVs simultaneously was the only reason I used texture atlas personally. So yes with 2.8's ability to edit multiple objects (including UVs) at the same time replaces this function. Though the addon has other features beyond this.

I also saw when you used vertex paint to colour the diferent meshes, you worked on all the pieces at the same time. Did it have sopmething to do with the texture atlas?

aarev Yes I believe so. The Texture Atlas addon temporarily combines all selected objects into one for the sake on manipulating UVs together. Then at the end it splits your objects up again as you had them initially, which is very handy. So when the objects were combined I was able to vertex paint them all together.
