Parenting works until the last step of the video...

The rigging  seems to be going well, but when I try to scale the Base_squash_bottom and Base_squash_top back to the origin the parenting seems to stop working. Up to that point, my base_def_in moves the treasure chest and my Base, Base_squash_top and Base_squash_bottom all move with one another.

    Hi Thomas,

    I might need to see some images or video of what you mean.  Or even the file itself.

    But I don't think you want to be scaling the squash control, but rather translating it.  I don't think I locked them in the videos, which I would normally do, as to not add extra information to the video that wasn't 100% needed.


    But I might be totally off base with trying to imagine what's happening in your file which shouldn't be.

    I was hoping I could upload the video I took to this chat, but I cannot. Is there a better way to share it? If not I can try to send over the file. I don't want to be too much of a hassle though.

    Alas we don't have the capabilities to upload them directly to the site (only images)

    You can paste links to videos so you can upload to vimeo or Youtube (or similar)

    For files, (blends or video), you will need to paste a link in here which points to the file on some cloud storage site (like Dropbox).

    I probably could have worded that better, but hopefully that all makes sense.

    Hi Thomas, 

    It looks like you have pasted a link to the page and not the actual file.


    A dropbox link will start with the dropbox website but then look like a bunch of random numbers and then end with a "?dl=0"

    Yep working.

    The issue is that you have 2 rigs.
    Select your rig.001 then select the rig (in object mode) and Press Ctrl J.

    This will join them both into the active object (the one w/o the .001)


    Then you should be able to figure it out from where you left off in the tutorial.

    Well, don't I feel dumb! 


    Was the Base_squash bottom supposed to link to the base_def_in like that at the end of the tutorial (13:10) or did I make another mistake somewhere along the way? Because that was the part that didn't seem to be working for me.

    All the bones look like they are in the correct place, the only issue is that they are in 2 different objects.

    So any parenting can't work.

    You can check the schematic drawing I did in the downloads if you get lost, it has all the connections drawn on it.
