I'm trying to set up a particle system for the boulders instead of placing them manually. I managed to get it set up in a way that looks good enough but the displacement modifier gets lost along the way, making all the rocks look the exact same. Is there any way around this?
I do want to figure out how to get this sort of thing to work if it is possible so any help would be nice.
Hi danenorth, the Particle system uses only one Object, so the using the Global Coordinates doesn't have any effect, because as far as the particle system is concerned the Object is in one place.
To get variation, you can use the Advanced option in your hair particle system and randomize rotation, phase and scale:
