This was a great course - fun and informative.
I tried a simple hack to the smoke/fire material, to allow rendering with Eevee. Used a spherical gradient texture with Object coordinates of Rocket.
Not as good as Cycles, but WAAAY faster on my GTX 1060. Also I could enable Bloom on the render. The result is interesting and fairly believable. Attempting to link it below:

Oh, I just asked a very similar question about, didn't see this before. I like your solution for the flame-alternative in Eevee!
