Compositing is sure a powerful thing but it feels like I've just scratched the bare surface of it. Is there another course about that subject (for 2.80 preferably)? I want to get rid of that feeling and learn it for good.
Thanks.
michaelmirn There was some great intro stuff at the end of the treasure chest learning flow - live stream (the live stream he taught about the sword and not the treasure chest) when he was compositing the sword. I felt like It was a great intro to compositing. Not sure if you are beyond that though. It completely demystified a lot for me though.
Compositing is incredibly powerful indeed. It's especially useful for VFX work: Adding CG effects to camera footage. We used to have a couple tutorials by Sean Kennedy (pro compositor with a laundry list of IMBD credits) but we seem to have removed them due to age. I recommend checking into his website for occasional compositing tutorials and tips.
Of course we would love to flesh out more about compositing on CGC in the future (assuming the demand is there). In which case we'd twist Sean's arm to develop the curriculum 😅
Well, that would be great. The more I learn about Blender the more I fall in love with it. And want to learn even more)
Please do so! I just noticed how powerful this feature is! I can see how a lot of the realism is achieved thru this and I think this became my top favorite thing among others!
There is a great course: https://cgcookie.com/course/introduction-to-compositing-in-blender by Bartek Skorupa!
Unfortunately it's old, so not in 2.8, but you can still learn the principles and probably a lot more than you'd want to know;)
If you have some specific questions related to compositing I can throw my hat into the ring. I have not used the compositing in blender just yet (still getting the hang of the 3D side) but I'm a compositor and use Nuke, the concepts used there should transfer to blender.
I would also love a new updated compositing course as it is definitely one of my weaknesses/least knowledgeable subjects.
michaelmirn I just saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kBIVQbkWQI
It's amazing!
michaelmirn I ran across this about compositing for 2.82. I haven't watched it yet, but thought you might find it interesting.
This series is awesome! I just watched it this week and I couldn't stop until I finished it. I really think it should be updated, but I couldn't find anything new from the author.
