Does anyone know if you can make wire frame multi-color? What I mean by that is if you have say three objects: body, coat, hat.....can you assign a different color to each object's wire frame view so you can see it all multi color?

If you want control over the wireframe colors, you'll have to set the Viewport Display in the Object Properties Panel to a certain color and choose Object in the shading dropdown:
