Moving vertexes is not altering shape of object

Question

When I move vertices using vertex slide on the middle bracket, the vertices along the beveled edge move, but the actual shape of the beveled edge isn’t changing. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks for sharing your file - that made it easy to troubleshoot. The reason your edits don't appear to change anything is because you have a mirror modifier on the object. Remove that and you're edits will behave as expected.
