Where might one find how to shade fire in Blender 2.8 with Cycles?

posted to: Smoke Domain

These simulations are incredible but I haven't find an effective way to shade them so I can preview them in the viewport. I love and appreciate the Eevee engine but I would love how to make this in Cycles to make for a little more 'realistic' look and it seems everywhere I look it is a tutorial on fire in Eevee.

Any insights anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Benjamin! You can use the Principled Volume shader. Turn the density up a bit and change the Blackbody Intensity to 1:

Wow that is so much easier than everything I found. By chance is there any ways to really control the shades of the flame and really customize it? This is probably asking too much so I totally understand if you want to refer this questions elsewhere.

There is, but you'll need to have your own setup from scratch. This tutorial is five years old at this point, but as far as I know nothing in the setup has changed since then.

    Awesome, thanks so much!
