Is there a reason to start on frame one instead of 0?

I am self taught animator and always start on frame 0, and go up in multiples of 5 or 10. Is it best practice to start on 1, if so why?

    Hi Agc191.

You can start on any frame you like.  I dare say most animators start on frame 1, but many start on frame 0.

In many studios they start on frame 100, in case they need to add pre-animation.

I'm not sure what you mean by go up in multiples of 5 or 10.  If you are meaning keyframes, that depends on the animation.

But many studios will name their shots in multiples of 10 in case they need to insert an extra shot it doesn't throw out the order of the entire project.

    ie - shot 1 = shot_010

    shot 2 = shot_020

then if a new shot needs to be added, it becomes shot_015
