Hello! I'm sorry I'm late.
Originally, I was going to make a crossbow. However, I recently got Terraria*, and I decided to make a sword from that game. After careful deliberation, I chose the Night's Edge. Unfortunately, it looks rather simple in game:
Therefore, I will use this as a base with which to add my own embellishments.
*As far as I know, Terraria is the only game where you can shoot a giant flying eyeball with a machine gun stuck into a shark's mouth while riding a unicorn in the underworld.
williamatics As this tutorial was pre- eevee I would switch to cycles and see what it looks like there. If you have followed the tutorial step by step then it should work fine. I would say it is that either eevee doesn't like it or maybe the lighting needs tweaking.
williamatics hmm , im not sure then. Can you share the node setup you are using so that we can see if we can see any discrepancies
williamatics I am liking how this is looking. Looks like you hit a road block with nodes. Don't worry, that means you are on the brink of something. I understand the frustration wholeheartedly. Keep at it. I don't stop digging until my shovel breaks or until I find the treasure. But there are some days where I have to stop and breathe and take a fridge break. Then come back at it.
williamatics Your sword looks cool all metallic and shiny! It's a bummer to hear about the struggle the dust has been. If it were me, I would try to concentrate dust in the crevices of the model. You could use the AO node for this similar to how I used it in this video.
Thanks for sharing the shading timelapse! You've put in serious work this week and you've earned an A imo 👍
Thank you ppaulhaynes1955 frikkr blanchsb and @theluthier for all the encouragement. Now that the class is over, I will continue working on my own projects, but not before completing a few courses with my four-step process. My four-step process is as follows:
1. Watch the course from start to finish.
2. Do what the instructor did in the course, re-watching the lessons if necessary.
3. Redo step 2, but make it my own.
4. Make my own thing using the techniques taught in the course.
