Hi everyone!
The first CG Cookie Challenge was a blast, but for the next couple ones I want to ask your help 😊 As you know these challenges are run for the community, by the community. So you guys get to have a say!
I would like to represent as many facets of CG as possible with these Community Challenges, to make sure that throughout the year there is always something for everyone to like. And with that in mind I've designed these main categories for the seasons of the year:
SPRING (APRIL)
CG Cookie Surprise Topic (which was the Eevee vs Cycles Challenge)
SUMMER (JULY)
Modeling and such (modeling & texturing, lighting, shader creation, grease pencil, simulations, etc.)
FALL (OCTOBER)
Halloween (spooky stuff!)
WINTER (JANUARY)
Animation (let's make things move)
I have made a list with a huge amount of topic ideas for each season, but you guys ultimately decide which one we'll do for the summer / fall / winter. So what are you waiting for? Cast your votes for the Summer Challenge Topic!
This link will take you to the voting form.
You can cast your votes until Sunday, after that I’ll start the preparations for the next challenge 😎
I'm always open for suggestions, so if you have any cool topic ideas that aren’t on the list just share them in the comments below. Who knows, maybe you'll see them appear on the next voting list 😉
Thanks for reading this post and for your votes, highly appreciate it! Have an awesome week everyone 😄

williamatics like animating a snow man or santa and his sleigh? I'm not sure if there are many Christmas themed rigged characters to find out there (that are also rigged in a way that's usable), but I will look around blendswap to check. If I find something that can be used then I can add it to the animation topics list 👍🏻
Though the Winter one is in January so that might be a tad late for such a topic... but it should be votable and then you guys can decide if you want to do that.
Hear ye hear ye, I challenge thee to make a render of delicious looking cookies.
ssmurfmier1985 Oh, I forgot that it was animation-themed. I hope that the themes for each season will change every year, because I really don't want to be stuck on animation every winter.
williamatics Modeling and such is very well represented throughout the year, there are 3 seasons devoted to it. I'm sure all the Animators don't want to be stuck on Modeling for the whole year, and the Animation courses are pretty popular so it seems fair to devote one season to that. These challenges should be something for the whole community to enjoy, not just for the modelers among us... Let's first just wait and see how participation is.
williamatics But does that mean if it's animation themed that you do not want to see a Christmas option this January then? Let me know, I'm happy to spend a couple of days exploring blendswap and testing rigged models for you, to see if there's something that can be used, but if you don't want it then I will spend my time doing something else useful 😉
ssmurfmier1985 What I mean is that the animation contest should be spring one year, summer another, fall another, and winter another. That way, the modelers would sometimes get to make Christmas stuff, and the animators would sometimes get to make other season stuff.
