I am trying to create an application that dynamically generates Solids of Known Cross Section with base bounded by user specified functions and user selected type of cross section. Once created, I would like the user to be able to rotate, pan, etc. the solid.
I have created python code to generate such meshes in Blender for arbitrary (but specified in the script) function and cross section pairs.
I am trying to decide whether Unity which has the benefit of extensive UI elements built-in and supporting web and mobile applications or Blender game engine which, because it uses python, would be easier to specify functions based on user input at runtime is the better choice for my task. If I have to write a mathematical expression parser in C# that isn't a deal breaker but I would prefer to avoid it.
Any insight or guidance would be appreciated.
The Blender game engine has essentially been abandoned as far as I know and I don't believe it supports web or mobile builds but I may be wrong. Unity however does support both builds, and will probably allow you to build whatever you want. I'd say if you feel comfortable working with Unity then definitely go that route, it'll give you a lot more options for your project.
