SOLVED - Blender 2.8 Shader Problem

Edit:  Wrong kind of mix lol

I'm following along and adding hair cards to my sculpted character, followed the tutorial to the T in 2.8, and then I get this problem.

Unless the shading system changed drastically or something.  Might just keep working in 2.7, then.

Not really sure how that works but how should it looked like?

  • Grady Pruitt(gradyp) replied

Which render engine are you using?

  • Grady Pruitt(gradyp) replied

    oh.. wait...

that's usually the reaction you get when it can't find the file for some reason. That's what the pinkish purple color is.

gradyp It was working fine as far as I can tell until I plugged the diffuse and transparent into the mix shader and the output of that into the material output.

silentheart00 if you reselect the missing file again does that work ?

  • silentheart00 replied

yyukinoh1989 Yes, when I plug in the file directly, it shows up.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

silentheart00 nice so then its fixed ?

  • silentheart00 replied

yyukinoh1989 No, there's a problem with the Mix shader section.

  • Grady Pruitt(gradyp) replied

You're going to laugh when you see this...

The problem is your plugging a shader output into a color input.

Instead of the MixRGB node, use a Shader Mix node.

gradyp Yeah, someone pointed that out on the CGCookie discord.  Whoops lol.  It works now.
