Is it possible to unwrap 2 objects into one UV map? For example a weapon and its magazine are 2 separate objects, but having them in 2 separate UV maps seems a waste of resources, and surely is better for performance when loading them into a game for example?
ttomtomh5 It is possible yes, there's a free addon that you will find helpful, called Texture Atlas, it's in Blender's defaults.
Once activated you will see a new section "Texture Atlas" in the render tab of the property panel:
Press the "+" button to create a new atlas, select the object you wish to unwrap together and press "addSelected". Then you have two choices:
-Auto Unwrap, and you are basically done
-StartManualUnwrap: it will join all your objects together, and then you switch to edit mode to unwrap each of them. Once you're done you press FinishManualUnwrap to restore each object. Note that when it joins the objects the modifiers are temporarily removed, they are restored after.
Hope that helps!
