When I now enter the Blender section of the forum, it is filled with BCx-YYYY topics (see attachment)
These topics dominate the rest of the Blender forum postings.
SUGGESTION:
How about adding them to a separate [CGCOOKIE - Blende Homework assignment] section?
so the rest of the (regular, question-related) forum entries remain visible for everyone as well?
@theluthier Maybe I missed the info on the early live stream, but why did it change from the previous process where the submissions were on the same thread ? My guess would be it was less easy to follow ?
tbrbn Yeah you guessed correctly. One of my VA's this month suggested that it'd be easier to keep track as separate threads. I thought it was a great idea and so far it's been much better. Only halfway done and communication has doubled with the same (average) amount of participants.
Of course the negative cost is clogging the forum homepage..
I totally agree. I'm part of the class but it does render the forum un-usable by anyone else. I think even if there wasn't homework posts it would be highly beneficial to have sub-forums like most other forums I've seen on the net. I know that there are category filters but its not very intuitive and many thread tags have the wrong category anyway. That way it would also be easier to find information that you need and also ask for help from those that are best equipped to help you:
Example Sub-forum threads:
As a new CG Cookie citizen I found it really difficult to navigate the forum and get value out of it because it has only the 1 layer of depth.
