Grass imported from Blender slides in Unity

Collaborations

Hi

I imported some grass to unity3d and painted it on a terrain. But it always slides....when the wind is activated. I read that this has to do with alpha and vertex? But I was not able to solve it. Does someone know about this problem?

thanks for an answer

Grass in Unity is used as planes with cutout textures. You could use actual meshes for the grass but you have to be careful about it being performance. By default the grass planes will sway to mimic wind. How are you using your grass?

thanks for your answer, the problem ist like here described in the video but solution for 3d max...

and I tried to paint with vertex color the mesh on the base. it has 3 planes  with grass alpha textures. I wanted to paint as mesh detail for a landscape. But it still slides...I tried export as fbx, as obj, as blend file directly....

ddeisele Apparently in the comments of that video they mention this:

In case anyone is wondering - you can't do this in Blender, as Blender does not have the ability to edit Vertex Alpha

I don't know how true that is, but I've never created grass in Blender and used it in Unity myself. I did find this unique way of creating grass in Unity: https://forum.unity.com/threads/best-way-of-making-grass-looks-a-lot-like-speed-tree-grass-runs-as-fast-and-looks-just-as-good.339792/

It's rumored that Unity is working on completely revamping the terrain tools so I'm hoping we'll finally get some realistic looking terrains using built in tools to include better vegetation options. I haven't devoted a lot of time to the terrain tools or organic environments in Unity so my skills in that area are limited. If I find some more useful grass/vegetation tips for Unity I'll post them here.

thanks for your answer Jonathan...actually I created a plane in 3D Max and it works. But there is another thing to take care of...I made the experience that two planes in one prefab (a group as one prefab) creates also problems. just one plane...not a group...then it works for painting. look at print screens..
