Modeling bootcamp: Husky puppy insight/help [Resolved]

Collaborations

Been working on the doggo for awhile but there is still something very uncanny about it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. The attached file is the model without wire (ignore the paws)

    Hi Bryan,

You're off to a good start but I'd advise taking a look at some reference for the head - both because it will be helpful and Huskies are really cute.

    https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzUzWDEwMjQ=/z/bCwAAOSwTM5YtzZy/$_86.JPG

Firstly, and most obviously, the snout comes into a point far too early and in an almost triangular way. Imagine a dog's snout as a cuboid and you won't be far off. The front of the face should be almost flat and around the same width as the start of the snout (slightly more than the width of the eyes. The length is about right for a puppy. I'd be more definite with where the snout ends and make a steeper angle up from it. Perhaps, as a quick fix, turn on proportional editing, grab the front of the snout and crush inwards.

Secondly, your ears are scaled wrongly and are a little too high if you are aiming for a puppy. Again, looking from the front view, the ears should start only a little above the eyes and should each be almost as large as the snout from the front view. The angle you've uploaded isn't great but  I think they are also quite far back.

Third, the eyes. Huskies, even as puppies, have quite small eyes compared to some dogs and they do have an obvious brow. I'd advise adding proper eyelids to both top and bottom and bring them in closer to achieve the pointed, almost beady look.

Finally - the legs are a little long for a puppy and the body a little small. A husky puppy is about three heads high when standing up like that - a head for the head (obviously, head for the body and then a head for the legs).

Hope that this was helpful and don't get discouraged - it is obvious that it is a dog and the topology is fairly clean - which is a lot better than could say for my first few models :)

sstbrown Thank you for the insane feedback. I took some notes and I will try to touch on all the bases you left for me. Also, I would be more discouraged if no one tried to help me but you gave me a lot to work on and improve. Thank you :)
