Need some help/advice about sculpting in Blender

I've started trying to learn sculpting and I'm running into a problem where my computer slows waaaaay down when I start sculpting.

I'm using a iMac with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB

Is this just not enough for sculpting? Or are there some tips/tricks or settings that I need to know about to make it work.

Also, my sculpt wasn't even that big, I had just made a uv sphere and started to pull parts out but I noticed it had bumped me up to over 150,000 verts real quick. Any advice or help is much appreciated!

    Non professional opinion:

I think you should control your polycount. 150 000 verts is too much for just pull some parts from UV sphere. I think you should not put a high amout of geometry if your details doesn't require such amount.

There is some tricks and you can see one in Sculpting the Wrangler cource. Kent separates his mesh into parts with grease cut and says it allows to handle higher polycount.

And yes, unfortunately, blender is not very good with high amount of geometry, ZBrush handle it better.

    Thank you for your advice!

I didn't intend for it to get so high. I'm not even sure how it did really. I have a lot to learn haha

Thank you for the video too!
