CGCookie Rigged Character Fair Use

Collaborations

Is there somewhere on CGCookie's site that talks about what we can and cannot do with the rigged characters available to members? Ā The license I've read says "unless otherwise specified" but so far I haven't found any "specified" statement for rigged characters like Baker, Clive, or even the rigged balls used by Wayne Dixon and Beorn Leonard. And what about Stomp, Rivet, and the big giant head guy?

Thanks, Jonathan. I'll watch for that.

One other thing... Could you please define the scope of 'personal projects?' Are personal projects allowed on YouTube, Vimeo, et al? In other words, are we talking projects that can be posted online for public consumption? Or do you mean projects not meant to make money? And what if a project accidentally makes money? It may seem like a dumb question, but it has happened.

I'm sure you are considering many options but I'd like to vote for "most things being CC-BY" and some things being "CC-BY-NC" and a small handful bing CC0.

Thanks for the extra info, Jonathan.

This is good to know, as I plan to start playing with rigging in about 2 months or so. Ā I aspire to have a J.K. Rowling accident. If I do, I canā€™t wait to pay it back! šŸ˜‚ Seriously about the accident, Iā€™ll hope to be putting animation tests up on YouTube by Christmas. Playing with available assets might be nice!Ā

Is there any update on the more permissive licensing model?

I'm specifically interested in the case of the Vonn Bots (spelling's likely wrong) characters. What's the license for these?

Also, are there any plans to update FlexRig? If not, I'd like to request one. Without a toe roll control, it's difficult to do a walk cycle without getting into a lot of time-consuming counter-animation.
