I've seeing the Course "Mesh Modeling Bootcamp" until the chapter named: "All quad junctions".
Today, I understand that poles can redirect the loop cut to get more control on the model.
However i still can't figure out how to use them to redirect the cut where i want.
I tried to anticipate by myself the direction of the loopcut but... i get it wrong almost all the time.
Here is an example:
Another one:
In my head poles can stop an edge loop and redirect it... but each time i try, i fail to understand where it should goes.
Ps: Sorry for my ugly images ^^', i'm not a photoshop user and paint is the best i have xD
Loopcuts never turn in the middle of a face. They always cross edges.
Loopcuts always split a quad in half. If it encouters a face that is not a quad (an n-gon or tris), the loopcut stops.
If Blender would create an edge loop as you expected, the red line, it would have to add 1 vertex and create an n-gone with 6 vertices.
WOW !
Thanks a Lot Dolores ^^.
I understand why i was wrong now :)
I can go forward ^^, thanks :)
I've made a cheat sheet for reference here that helps visualize the flow through junctions.
