An Architectural course??

Hi everyone. i was just wondering if you guys had thought about an architectural course.

id love to be able to model cool buildings but never know where to begin and would love to see one on here as you guys make everything so simple and your quality is unmatched!

it wouldnt have to be anything massively in depth like making blueprints just a simple course focusing on stylized exteriors primarily with a few interiors and maybe one photo realistic in there as a challenge or something i dont know lol.

An architecture course is definitely something we've passed around back and forth internally with the content crew. It's been brought up a number of times so it is on our radar although I'm not sure if @theluthier or @jlampel would want to tackle that subject. If we did do that for the Blender side I'd love to do something with the Unity side as well to have an interactive VR visualization through these various environments.

An architecture course would be nice.

I appreciate the positive feedback about our training's quality! @jonathanwilliamson did an interior arch-viz course several years ago. It must have been retired at some point. Perhaps it will make it into our CG Cookie Classics channel soon.

@jlampel has some building modeling stuff in his new "Mesh Modeling Bootcamp" course. And another exercise on building modeling.

bbeast Is that what you're looking for? If not, can you post some pics about the kinds of buildings (real or CG) that you'd like to learn to create?

    I second that motion!

Hi guys sorry I've been absent, had some mad stuff going on recently.

I've always been interested in making late Victorian buildings with the steel work on the outside. The kind of stuff you see around London or even in a batman comic/game in gotham

I am interested in any and all models of buildings but currently focusing on concrete buildings in the Brutalist style. So I am currently taking the "Realistic Environments" course because it has concrete elements.

What course should I take next?

Any hard surface modeling course wood be useful.

It does also depend on what you will do with your building models,

For games and general optimised meshes, try creating-animated-sci-fi-game-assets

mesh-modeling-bootcamp is a great course, chapter 3 is about box modeling a 3d house, but understanding other forms in mesh modeling would also be useful for when modeling more organic shapes, which you may find useful as the design of your buildings evolve.

Depending on your current skill level, you may want to look at the fundamentals,

    fundamentals-of-3d-mesh-modeling-in-blender

    fundamentals-of-blender-materials-and-shading

    fundamentals-of-texturing-in-blender

and of course you will want

fundamentals-of-digital-lighting-in-blender to show off your buildings.
