Beginning to wonder if maybe the issue lies in my model...so, here is what is happening with my normal map and ambient occlusion map.

and a screenshot of how my setup looks....I'm just stumped...
(note: i'ce tried tweaking the bake settings as far as ray distance and margins....
Check out the Guru his tutorial somewere @ 8:23. Maybe that is the issue.
A help to find the ray distance are the normals. Activate the normals to see if no normal is hitting an opposite face and use that normal length as the value for the ray distance in the baking tab.
Your UV looks a lot simpler now.
That did help a lot. I think its about as good as it's going to get at this point lol. I appreciate the help seriously! I may have bit off more than I can chew with this being my first character model. Thank you though.

Since Dolores has already solved your problem, I just want to add that maybe you can look into using xNormals. It is a software specially designed for baking.
