A while back I did a project for an art school that involved taking 5 year old children's drawing and turning them into 3D print models. The lovely Miss Pavla did an article on it here on CG Cookie.
The school intended to give the children the real life version of their drawings as a gift. Here's how it all turned out, plus a small animation I did for the project.

What a great idea! I will do that for my little daughter, as soon as she learns how to draw anything! I will definitely create a 3D model of her drawings and will bring them to life with a 3d-printed version. Congratulations! I can imagine the happiness on their eyes!
