Problems with the surface of my sculptures

Well, bassically they look like they are made of clay.

Here is the last i did. LINK TO IMUGUR

Yes, i kwon the materials dose't help the fact that they look like clay. But You can see in the details like the hands feets and mostly the eyelids there are some irregularytis in the surfaces.

I tried the smooth brush but it only smooth at some degree.

Any advice would be apreciated.

Hey, great question! (And nice sculpt) Lumpiness is something every digital sculptor learns to get over. I'd suggest two things:

    • Try using the Flatten/Contrast and Scrape/Peaks brushes as well. They're pretty versatile when you get into the settings. This exercise will show you how to tweak them: https://cgcookie.com/exercise/exercise-rocky-formations
    • Start working with big shapes with as few triangles as possible and then work your way down to smaller details. Even with Dynamic Topology, only use the amount of geometry needed to create the next level of refinement for your desired shape. Get the larger form down first before adding any details. This is just a workflow thing, and it will inherently prevent you from getting bad lumps. Some may still come up after adding detail, but those should be easy to fix with smooth, flatten, or scrape.

    Thakns!!!

For my nex sculpt will try that! Those lumps might come from having too many details when it shouldn't?

Also. Should i get my sculpt as smooth as possible or is that a waste of time and should invert that time cleaning the mesh in the retopology process?
