Up to date equivalent to the Sculpt Tool UI Addon?

I'm doing the sci-fi helmet tutorial and finding that the Sculpt addon is really invaluable to the workflow, but it also means I have to use 2.77 version of Blender because otherwise it doesn't work properly.. And it's apparently not supported anymore.

So, is there anything.. close? Like, the grease cut function is super useful, the simplified boolean functions are great, and the extract mask tool is really nice. The only thing that comes close to that off the top of my head is hard ops, because that handles cutting stuff.. But that doesn't do subsurf well and is more the hard surface phase than the sculpting phase.

So, thoughts?

Hi Corwin - you might find the plugin Speedsculpt useful. It adds a lot of functionality to Blender's sculpting.

I've run into a couple of issue with sculpt tools also. Considered buying hardops but I can't really follow the tutorial videos. I'm using the boolean modifer to cut away my mesh before sculpting. Thinking I'll model the other parts and join them together. I also grabbed ManuelbastioniLAB addon to create a female character for my helmet. Really nice addon I recommend checking out.

Speedsculpt looks awesome! Well worth the $11 imo.

testarossa The Sculpt Tools UI works fine for me in 2.78. While it can be finicky and the Grease Pencil needs to be set to "Object" mode in the tool panel to function properly in recent versions, overall it still functions as it always has. Granted the developer is not maintaining it anymore which leaves its future unreliable. When the addon loses functionality, I'll have to cross that bridge when it comes.

But I also don't see a problem with using older Blender versions for legacy tools/functionality. I see that as an asset, not as a handicap.

You could look at Bool Tool.  It's got simplified boolean operators but no Grease Cut equivalent.
