AMD GPUs in Blender 2.8

I've got a Vega 56 GPU on a Mac and Blender is saying no supported GPUs found in the preferences menu. In the render tab for the scene I can still select GPU compute but it takes a long time to render, almost 3 minutes for one image, so I'm thinking it's still using the CPU.

I guess my question is does anyone else have a similar AMD GPU and if so what is your experience in Blender 2.8? I've googled a bit and it looks like there is currently limited support for AMD cards in 2.8 so maybe it'll be implemented in the future.

I just swapped out my 1070 for the Vega so I could update my hackintosh, maybe I should've stuck with Nvidia.

Edit: I've been toying around with AMD's ProRender engine. It kinda works for me, although the fire emission is not showing up. I think not all shader nodes are currently supported so maybe I'm stuck with cycles on my CPU for the time being :/

I don't have an AMD card right now but I can confirm that support for them in Blender 2.8 is limited. Hopefully that'll get updated more in the future!

Thanks Jonathan. I just found AMD's render engine for Blender so I'm looking into that. My render for this rocket animation is looking to take about 10 hours so hopefully I can cut that down a bit.

Colinkeller , there is another option that you can render for free on google collab :) , they use Geforce GPUs most of time i got to render on GeForce Tesla  K80 :)
