I've turned off ambient occlusion yet the outline of the object is still there and does't blend with the other? Im not too sure what's going on.
Hey, it looks like that's because the object that it's sitting on top of has a gradient, which means its edges are not marked sharp like the ones around it.
Looking good so far, keep it up!
