What an accent!
So, assuming he said, "key sets", what is a key set? I can't tell from his quick talking what it is!
He keeps saying "hit I", which is clearly "press the I key". What does the I key do?
So frustrating to try to learn this way! This kind of fast demonstration only works if the viewer is already very familiar with the subject matter. But I'm a beginner and this is the first animation course!
It was "Keying Sets", I believe. Here they are in more detail:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/animation/keyframes/keying_sets.html
Pressing I over an interface element inserts a keyframe:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/animation/keyframes/editing.html#insert-keyframes
he didn't said "king sets" and for sure is not "KEY SETS" the problem is that you don't know how to listen or analyze what he's been saying correctly,
he said keying sets, and he was very clear about what it was a key is and SET is not obvious about what keying sets means?, if you have a bunch of tool in a box how you call it ? yes you right TOOL SET YAyy! you did it boy!
have good day and i hope that when you try to understand something before you critic or said something analyze what you listening and try to see if there is another similarity, because if you think there's handful amount of words that sound similar and king sets is out of context here, so it have to be keying sets, not? what google is for? thanks.
ddavid073 the fundamentals of animation course is a bit of a precursor to the course(s) by Wayne Dixon. I have done both and ill be frank, you really don't need the first one. Not only is it out of date, there is very little you will learn there that you won't learn in a better way from Wayne.
So my advice would be to either skip it altogether or just watch it quickly, take what you can learn with you and trust that what remains unclear will become clear when watching wayne's courses. :)
jose221981 Relax mate, if your new as David is I can understand it all goes rather fast. Everyone learns at their own pace. Personally I play most video's at 1.5 or 2 speed but that is not for everyone. For a course named "Fundamentals of Animation" the subjects covered are rather technical and the instructor does race through them. No need to be this dismissive to Dave.
I know sorry for that is just I felt a little bit uncomfortable because several people have been complaining about the videos and I think it's good idea to value not only the downsides of the course ,but the good things and maybe try to start solving problems that maybe the instructor either forget to mention or just simply because it's out date, doesn't matter which one it is at least you will have some better understanding for the future ,nothing is perfect, but anyway thanks for the critics and I'm sorry david073 if I take this too personally!
Hey jose221981 Good on you for owning up to it. We all have our grumpy days (myself included). :) I fully agree on getting the most out of the material provided whatever it may be. It happens often there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal, the terminology of software is slightly different or the process as its shown is close to what you need but not quite. Being able to see through those issues and still learn something from it is not only useful but I think essential in this field.
With that said, criticism is also very valuable, because it can help CGcookie (or anyone really) to improve. And, talking from personal experience, sometimes being validated in your feeling that something could have been more clearly explained, worded better or even that its just a tough subject to learn can be very helpful too. I've had many times, and still have, where I felt stupid for not getting something and hearing that your not the only one struggling with it is sometimes the best medicine to get your spirits back up and try again.
All this to say that I feel both are important. I look forward to seeing you around, be it with questions and/or art. :)
