Re: Ambient Occlusion

Now that there is an option to enable Ambient occlusion in the World tab in Blender 2.8,  does using Image texture for environment still vital? If so, we still have to keep it enabled even with world environment, right?

I'm asking because I wonder If it is realistic to have reflections of the colors that are not really in the scene that viewers cannot see... If, for example, I'm making animation scene, is it still advised to add world environment?

The answer is very situation-dependent. If your animation scene takes place inside, then you could probably do without an environment texture as long as you model the interior scene. But if the scene takes place outside, I always recommend using an environment texture - at least try it. Without it, your scene will look flat and dull, often even if you model aspects of the environment.

Is there a reason you would want to avoid using an environment texture?
