Snapping vertices vs. Merge at center?

When you're snapping vertices to clean up the corners under the windows...would selecting the two crossed vertices and merging at center yield the same result or is there a hidden downfall to using that method?

That might work perfectly. I'd have to go back and see if it lines up the same, but if it does that's a great solution.

    Hi,

I'm also working on the corners under the windows. The merge at center method is what I had to end up using. I'm having real trouble with the snapping. I have it set to vertex, closest. I'm using version 2.79. But I just can't Blender to snap the way you do in the video. Every once in a while it will snap but it is a trail and error thing. Also I was never able to get the edge to snap to a 90 degrees. For that part, I went into top view and eyeballed it. Is there a sensitivity setting for snapping that I might have missed?

    Thanks

Hey mmleonard17 , the sensitivity is the yellow circle that appears when snapping, but I don't know of any way to adjust it. You could double check that Snap To Self is turned on next to Closest, but beyond that I'm really not sure what could be going on.

Another way to straighten an edge (if you don't want to eyeball it) is to scale to zero along whichever axis you want it to flatten against.

Hope that helps at least a little!

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. It was a combo of a few stupid things working against me at once, but I've got the snapping working now.

    Thanks

It doesn't align perfectly using Merge at Center, but it is easier because then you only have to snap-align one vertex instead of two.
