We used to use Screencast keys for our videos. But for the past couple years we decided not to for a couple reasons:
- Not using Screencast keys forces the instructors to better explain the tool menu location as well as the hotkey. Screencast keys can be a bit of a crutch.
- The Blender 2.8 project is supposed to remake the keymap and all or at least a lot of hotkeys will change. At that point all Blender tutorials with pre 2.8 screencast keys will be obviously dated.
While this approach can make learning hotkeys a little harder, ultimately we believe the harder will make better educated Blender artists.
