In sculpting mode, isn´t it possible to save the masks we paint so we can use them again later to isolate some parts?
Exactly, Im doing some sculpting so I use the mask brush to isolate certain parts. I´d like to be able to tell Blender to remember some of them in case I need to use them again (like in Photoshop you can save selections and load them again anytima later on). The only way around I have found to do this in blender is, after using the mask brush, I go to edit mode and I save the selected vertex as a new group (which I can use later on). I come from Cinema4D and in its sculpting mode you cans save your brush maskings, therefore my question. Thank you!
I see what you mean. Unfortunately I'm not aware of the ability to do this with Blender's sculpt mode. I can certainly see the usefulness to do so, but never run into the need for it much personally. Also with dynamic topology, I wonder how that data would be stored since the mask data would be based on changing topology..
Good point my friend, I guess the developers should be the ones facing that problem haha.. Anyway even if I find it useful in Cinema4D, it is not such a big deal, and if I have to choose... I take the dynamic topology from Blender (awesome!) better than the saving masks option. C4D has really cool stuff (like the mograph module for motion graphics and more) but about sculpting... Blender is amazing. Thank you.
Why not select the vertices you want to hide, assing them to a vertex group and then use the Mask modifier to use that Vertex group. Then you could only use those vertices to do whatever you wish and hide everything else.
