Wow, the main reason I wanted this course was to go into fluids, and you guys decided to just phone it in. "Not up to production standards..." Yeah, I'm not buyin' that. What's a paid subscription for if not to really delve into these subjects? You could have gone into all the fluid simulation types in greater detail... how to set them up, run and see the simulation... Try again... Soon.
Hey jjcweatherby , sorry to hear that! I almost didn't include a lesson on fluids, because Blender's fluid sim really isn't up to par. It was created back in the early 2000's and has seen almost no improvement since. I've attempted to use it in multiple commercial productions but have yet to have it work out. For now I would stick to something like Realflow, and then import that back into Blender for rendering. There are a few modern replacements being considered for Blender and one of them (probably Mataflow? It's by the same researcher who coded the original) will likely replace the current sim later on in the 2.8 series. I'd be more than happy to cover any questions you have or go into more detail about the different fluid types if you ask over on the Community, but I didn't feel that including that was appropriate for an introductory course.
